The Island & it’s nature setting

Isola di San Pietro is known for its dreamy beaches but also for it’s stunning rocky coastline (33km long) that offers many hiking trails and pure nature. The island stands out for its variety and wild beauty, alternating welcoming beaches with rugged cliffs and inaccessible rocky bushes, its wild countryside and the clear light. Rocks shaped by the waves, the unspoiled beaches, the many colours of the sea.

Saline of Carloforte

The autumn sun can bring out the vibrant hues of the Sardinian coastline, with the golden light reflecting off the water and highlighting the rocky cliffs. The island invites you to take in the atmosphere and revel in this place of silence, its authenticity and its wealth of surprises.

Picturesque Carloforte

The only town on the island, Carloforte is well-worth some time exploring. This unique location is a resort town with a fishing soul. Colorful buildings and pretty views make it the perfect spot for taking photos. Wander the charming central square, Piazza Pegli, listening to locals speaking in their traditional dialect known as Tabarkine.

The shorter days of fall can be a good time for street photography, during an after dinner stroll through Carloforte, getting lost in the narrow beautiful streets, having gelato and coffee in a typical bar, sit down for an aperitivo and watch people passing by, waiting for after sunset to shoot the village in it’s street light.

Photographer & Visual Storyteller

Meet Carol

Hi, I’m Carol — a travel photographer, visual storyteller, and nature lover based between Lake Maggiore and the open roads of Europe.

With over 10 years of experience, I’ve photographed families, couples, solo adventurers, and wild landscapes across 19 countries — from elopements in Iceland to intimate portraits in Morocco, hikes through New Zealand, and quiet mornings on Sardinian shores.

Through my project Capture My Travel, I create photography experiences that go beyond the image: soulful, slow, and rooted in presence. My work blends natural light, intuition, and emotion, inviting people to be seen — truly seen — just as they are.

For me, photography is not about perfection. It’s about connection.
With yourself, with others, and with the beauty around you.

During the retreat, I’ll guide you through creative and mindful photo sessions that help you observe more, feel deeper, and express your unique way of seeing the world. No performance, no pressure — just honesty, movement, and light.

Impressions of Carol’s work and passion

Our Shutter Hub

Villa Campo is a charming traditional house, located not far from the the port and town Carloforte (5min drive or 30min walk), as well as a 10min walk to the next little private beach. Nestled in a lush green scenery, overlooking the mediterranean sea, the villa offers stunning views and lots of tranquility.

The property offers a main house with two small bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a separate wc, a spacious open common lounge and eating area and an open kitchen, plus an apartment with another two  spacious bedroom, bathroom and a separate wc (as well as a kitchenette). Even though some bedrooms are small, each room is equipped with a double bed and a closet and offers sea views. The common spaces and outdoor terraces are bright and offer plenty of space to sit together or find privacy if wished.

What makes the villa outstanding is it’s location, the views, tranquility and magical sunrises.

What to expect

Led by Carol, the photography part of the retreat is an invitation to reconnect with your creative self through light, emotion, and storytelling.

Over the course of 4 days, you’ll explore photography not only as a technical skill but as a mindfulness practice — one that teaches you to observe, slow down, and truly see. Each session will be an immersive experience, from sunrise shoots that awaken the senses to emotional sunset portraits that capture your inner world.

Why Sardinia? Because this island is a symphony of contrasts — wild landscapes, golden light, vibrant textures, and poetic silence. Carloforte, with its unique blend of Mediterranean soul and untouched beauty, becomes our open-air studio.

Photography & Yoga

Here’s what you’ll dive into:

  • Sunrise & Golden Hour Shoots: Learn to photograph in natural light, exploring mood, color, and timing.
  • Visual Storytelling & Self-Portraiture: Use photography to express your personal journey, even without words.
  • Pair Portraits & Group Connection: Experience what it means to photograph (and be photographed) with presence and vulnerability.
  • Mindful Photo Walk: Collect images like you would collect moments — slowly, intentionally, soulfully

On the final day, you’ll choose one of your personal highlight shot. This photo will be printed on location with a portable printer and gifted to you as a tangible memory of your inner journey.

No technical skills required. Just bring your curiosity, your camera, and your willingness to be seen — truly seen.

Our yoga sessions will be aligned around your photography theme of the day and will offer you tools and techniques helping to redirect the mind’s attention, quiet internal distractions to calm our nervous system and cultivate concentrated intentions.

We will be incorporating: asanas – paying attention to the body’s sensations during mindful movement can improve focus, concentration and awareness. pranayama – controlled breathing to calm the nervous system and increase focus. meditation to train the mind to focus and quiet internal distractions.

Our practice will be suitable for all experiences, levels and physical conditions.
